2024: Kazakhstan's richest businessmen named

Forbes Kazakhstan magazine in May 2024 presented an updated rating of the richest businessmen in the country, which this year expanded to 75 participants. For the first time, the list includes new persons, which reflects the noticeable growth of Kazakhstan's large business over the past two years. The total fortune of the rating participants increased by $8.2 billion, reaching $46.63 billion.

The leader of the rating was Vyacheslav Kim, whose fortune is estimated at $5.8 billion. The bulk of its wealth is a stake in Kaspi.kz JSC, whose shares are traded on the NASDAQ exchange. For 2023, Kim's fortune increased by $2.2 billion, which allowed him to take 511 place in the global ranking of billionaires.

In second place in the list are Timur Dinara Kulibaevs, each of whom has a fortune of $5 billion. Their assets include Halyk Bank stakes in other large companies as well. For 2023, their total wealth increased by $700 million thanks to the rise in the value of Halyk Bank shares.

Vladimir Kim, in third place with a fortune of $3.6 billion, faced a decrease in his capital by $1 billion due to the disposal of the Russian copper project GDK Baimskaya from KAZ Minerals. However, Kim continues to control significant assets in the mining sector.

The fourth position is taken by Timur Turlov, whose fortune is estimated at $3.3 billion. He is the founder and owner of the financial and investment group Freedom Holding Corp, which is actively developing not only in Kazakhstan, but also in 18 countries of the world. In 2023, his fortune increased by $200 million.

Bulat Utemuratov ranks fifth with a fortune of $2.7 billion. It controls significant assets in the banking sector, including, ForteBank as well as in development and retail. to trade Utemuratov is also active in educational projects and philanthropy.

The ranking also included newcomers such as Arsen Tomsky, founder of InDrive, and Almaz Alsenov, founder of Harvest Group. Tomsky, who moved to Kazakhstan from Russia, is actively developing his business and has already received Kazakhstani citizenship.[1]
