Uniform zone of payments in euro (SEPA)
Uniform zone of payments in euro (EZPE; engl. Single Euro Payments Area — SEPA) — a uniform zone in which differences between internal and international payments in euro are completely liquidated. The first changes connected with SEPA became effective on January 28, 2008.
The purpose of creation of the project — to improve the effectiveness of interstate payments and to integrate the national markets of the different countries in the uniform house market. The uniform zone of payments in euro will allow users to make currency-free transactions in euro to any other user who is in any place of this zone, using the uniform bank account and a uniform set of payment instruments.
32 countries entering into EZPE
Additional economy is reached at the expense of an obligation of banks to enlist SEPA payments by a full amount into the account of the receiver and without any commissions. Execution of payments is made no later than 1 working day after their design.
The project includes creation of the general financial instruments, standards, procedures and infrastructure for providing economy on the scale of all participating countries. Reduction of the total costs on movement of the capitals in the European economy (2-3% of a general meaning of GDP) should become result of introduction of a uniform zone of payments to euro.
