Urology

2022: Decrease in the number of Russian visits to the urologist by 2.81% to 16.57 million

In 2022, approximately 16.57 million patients turned to urologists in Russia. This is 2.81% less than the previous year. In general, the segment is showing unstable dynamics, as stated in BusinesStat materials released in late December 2023.

Analysts note that, unlike many markets for goods and services, where legal entities can be consumers, the services of the medical industry are provided only to specific individuals. Thus, the number of patients and the number of appointments are key parameters for estimating the size of the urology industry. Among the leading market players are named JSC "Group of Companies," "Medsi CHUZ, "Central Design Bureau" Russian Railways-Medicine " LLC," "LLC" CM Clinic Haven "(" Mother and child") and LLC" "(" Family Health Centre Network Family "). When preparing the report, data of the Federal state Statistics Service Rosstat (), Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation etc.

According to estimates, in 2018, 16.18 million people used the help of urologists in the Russian Federation. A year later, the figure was 16.46 million, which corresponds to an increase of 1.72%. However, in 2020, there was a decline associated with a decrease in the availability of planned medical care amid the COVID-19 pandemic. As a result, the number of patients decreased by 8.74% and amounted to 15.02 million people.

In 2021, as noted in the review, in connection with the implementation of deferred demand, the number of patients accessing urologists increased by 13.53% - to 17.05 million people. The study says that in 2022, the demand for urologist services in the public sector stabilized after a rush of growth. At the same time, in the commercial segment, the number of patients decreased due to a decrease in income in the context of sanctions and an unstable economic situation.[1]
