2021: Britain named leader in venture capital investment in Europe - $39.8 billion

According to the results of 2021, Britain is in first place in venture capital investment in Europe - $39.8 billion was invested in local startups. This is the fourth indicator in the world after the United States ($328.8 billion), China ($61.8 billion) and India ($44.6 billion). This is evidenced by data from Dealroom analysts, released in January 2022.

Most of the investments in Britain in 2021 came from startups based in London - $25.5 billion, which is more than twice the result of a year ago. Investments in London projects were the largest among European cities, and in the world only companies from San Francisco, New York and Boston raised more funds.

More than 60% of all funding for companies in London in 2021 came in the form of rounds worth $100 million or more. There were 64 such last year, which is much more than in 2019 (18) and in 2020 (19). And there are no signs of a slowdown in pace, experts say.
