2024: Veterinary Services Market Size Cut 31.3% to ₸37,2 Billion

The pet treatment and care services market in Kazakhstan has shown a significant decline in 2024. The total volume of such services amounted to ₸37,2 billion, which is 31.3% less than in 2023. The data indicate the stagnation of the industry against the background of a decrease in consumer spending of the population on the maintenance of pets. This became known on July 16, 2025.

According to the Bureau of National Statistics of the ASPiR of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the decline in financial volumes affected both main categories of services. The volume of veterinary services reached ₸31,3 billion, a decrease of 16.6% compared to the previous period.

The most dramatic drop was recorded in the segment of animal care services. The volume of pet care services decreased by 2.8 times and amounted to ₸5,9 billion against ₸16,6 billion in 2023, according to BNS reports.

Detailed analysis of the market structure by sources of financing showed uneven dynamics. The volume of veterinary services paid by the population decreased by 26.9%. At the same time, the opposite trend was observed in the category of care procedures.

The expenses of Kazakhstanis on care procedures for animals increased to ₸2,5 billion against ₸208 million in 2023. This growth was offset by a reduction in the volume of services financed from other sources in this category.

Energyprom notes that the fall of 2024 contrasts with the previous dynamics of the industry. Since the disastrous 2020, the veterinary services market has shown steady annual growth up to 2023.

BNS statistics show that the total cost of treatment and care services for pets reached maximum values ​ ​ in 2022-2023. In 2022, the total volume was ₸46,1 billion, and in 2023 - ₸54,1 billion.

The market dynamics for the period from 2019 to 2024 demonstrates the wave-like nature of the industry development. In 2019, the volume of services amounted to ₸14,9 billion, in 2020 it decreased to ₸12,2 billion, and in 2021 it recovered to ₸19,6 billion.^[1]
