2024: Production of yeast for bread in Russia for the year decreased by 2.3% to 90.4 thousand tons
The production of bakery pressed yeast in Russia amounted to 90.4 thousand tons in 2024. The figure is 2.3% lower than the previous year. The decrease is due to restrictions in the supply of raw materials and fluctuations in demand for bakery products. Manufacturers' adaptation to rising costs affected output volumes. The market remains an important part of the country's food industry. This is evidenced by data from a study by Alto Consulting Group, published in early October 2025.
As follows from the report of Alto Consulting Group, the Central Federal District became the leader in terms of yeast production. The region provided about 58.5% of the total for the reporting period. The high concentration of production capacity in this region is due to the availability of raw materials. Developed transport infrastructure reduces the logistics costs of manufacturers. Proximity to the main consumers of products allows you to quickly supply goods. Moscow, Tula and Kaluga regions concentrated the largest factories in the industry.
The reasons for the reduction in the production of bakery pressed yeast:
