Millionaires
In December 2021, the millionerov in Cambodia was obliged to wear an official uniform.
The authorities believe that in such an outfit, wealthy residents of the country should appear at official events and festivals.
Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen signed by-law Decree No. 222, which requires tycoons, called oknha in Khmer, to appear in a special form at events.
The uniform consists of a shirt with shoulder straps, trousers or skirt and is decorated with accessories: a brooch, a gold necklace, a green belt with embroidery.
Tycoon Nurn Ork believes the uniform is very beautiful and similar to that of government officials as they go through an audience at the Royal Palace.
If one of the tycoons does not wear an official uniform for the sake of an event with a strict dress code, then he is entitled to a fine. Millionaires, according to the Prime Minister, should do sewing and paying for expenses on their own.

Court dismisses PM Patongtarn Shinawat for ethics violation in conversation with former Cambodian leader
In August 2025, Patongtarn Shinawat was removed from her post as Prime Minister of Thailand by a constitutional court for violating ethical standards. This is the second leader of the country, deprived of office in a year, which exacerbates the political crisis.
The court found that her telephone conversation with former leader Cambodia Hun Sen, which hit the press, undermined the honor of the prime minister and the nation. While the remarks were not dishonest, they sparked protests and demands for resignation.
Patongtarn apologized, but denied guilt, claiming that she wanted to defuse tensions with Cambodia.
The reason for the clash between Thailand and Cambodia was cyber slaves
At the end of July 2025, it became known that one of the reasons for the armed conflict between Thailand and Cambodia was the activities of the so-called cyber slaves, who are involved in various fraudulent schemes.
Shootings between Thailand and Cambodia began in the area of the ancient Prasat Ta Khwai temple on the disputed section of the border. Cambodia reportedly used Grad multiple launch rocket systems, while Thailand launched an airstrike on the locations of the Cambodian armed forces. Separately, Bangkok has threatened to cut power and internet in Cambodia to disrupt cybercriminal camps, some of which are near the named temple.
Criminals lure people into cyber camps by offering them high-paying jobs, according to Interpol. Citizens of different countries get there - mainly Asian. Those who fall for the trick often find themselves in slavery: they are forcibly held in special bases, where they are forced to participate in fraudulent schemes, including love and investment scams. According to UN estimates, more than 100 thousand people can work in such camps against their will.
Thailand is trying to fight cyber slavery and repatriate victims, among whom there are Thai. China supports these efforts as rogue camps often target Chinese citizens or are run by Chinese criminal gangs. The industry of fraudulent centers in Cambodia is estimated to generate more than $12.5 billion a year, that is, about half of the country's GDP. Local authorities, according to The Register, turn a blind eye to the activities of such sites. Analysts believe that Thailand's efforts to counter transnational cyber fraud carried out near the disputed section of the border could have contributed to the aggravation of the conflict between the two countries.[2]

Main article: World War II
At the beginning of World War II, eastern Indochina was a French colony, but the rapid fall of France created a political vacuum that allowed Japan to occupy Indochina in September 1940.
Japan's ally in the region was Thailand, which allowed Japanese troops to be deployed on its territory. In return, pro-Japanese Thailand received Laos and part of the territory of Cambodia.
