2025: Ex-head of China Huarong International Holdings investment company executed for bribes of $156 million
China carried out the death sentence against Bai Tianhui, the former CEO of investment firm China Huarong International Holdings. He was found guilty of taking bribes worth about $156 million. The verdict was executed on December 9, 2025 by the Second People's Court of the middle stage of Tianjin City. This was reported by the Central Television of China. Read more here.
2024: Former CEO sentenced to death
The Tianjin People's Court of the Second Intermediate Instance at the end of May 2024 found Bai Tianhui, the former CEO of China Huarong International Holdings Co., Ltd., guilty of bribery worth more than 1.108 billion yuan ($151 million). He was sentenced to death, deprived of political rights for life, and his personal property confiscated. Read more here.
