2024: Cordiant bought the Nizhny Novgorod plant for the production of auto components from A.Raymond Group
On October 18, 2024, it became known about the acquisition by the Cordiant holding of the Russian division of the French company A.Raymond Group. The deal to buy the A. Raimond RUS plant, specializing in the production of automotive components from plastic, was completed on October 15, 2024.
According to Kommersant, information about the transaction is confirmed by the Unified State Register of Legal Entities. The new owner of A. Raymond RUS LLC was Meteor Auto Components Kaluga LLC, which is part of the structure of Kordiant JSC. Representatives of Cordiant confirmed the acquisition, noting the high potential for synergy between the holding's assets.
The A. Raimond RUS plant, located in the Dzerzhinsk-Vostochny industrial park of the Nizhny Novgorod region, was launched in 2015. The company manufactures fasteners and plastic components for the automotive industry. The capacity of the plant is 10 million elements per year. Among the clients of the enterprise are the largest Russian automakers, including AvtoVAZ, GAZ and UAZ.
Maxim Khudalov, chief strategist of the investment company Vector Capital, estimates the value of the transaction at no more than ₽100 million. According to him, such an assessment is due to the loss-making of the company in the period from 2015 to 2023.
Euler Analytical Technologies expert Vladimir Bespalov notes that the acquisition of a manufacturer of auto components may be associated with the policy of the Russian government to deepen the localization of car production. This makes such assets attractive to investors.
Cordiant, which recently came under the control of Severgroup Alexei Mordashov, unites tire factories with a total capacity of 15 million units per year, as well as the production of spark plugs, boilers and power tools. The acquisition of the auto components plant is in line with the company's stated strategy to expand its product line.
Experts predict the continuation of the trend for the consolidation of production of components for cars in Russia. Among the active players in this market is also noted MGC Group, which recently acquired the production of car seats from Magna International.[1]
