2023: Construction of the world's largest solar wind farm

In mid-August 2023, Indian company Adani Green Energy Limited announced the completion of the world's largest solar wind farm. The site is located in the Indian state of Rajasthan in the northwest of the country.

The hybrid cluster for generating "green" energy covers an area of approximately 11,500 acres (approximately 47 square kilometers). A total of 5.8 million solar modules with a power of 535 watts each and 353 wind turbines are combined. The total capacity of the solar-wind power plant reaches 2.14 GW.

About 40% of the photovoltaic panels (in terms of power provided) are mounted on support structures with a fixed slope. The remaining 60% use special turning mechanisms and trackers to target the Sun.

Adani Green Energy is working on a super-scale project for a hybrid solar-wind power plant, which will be located in Havda (Gujarat) on an area of approximately 70,500 acres (more than 285 square kilometers). This cluster will combine 33.6 million photovoltaic modules with a power of more than 570 watts each. Trackers with a robotic cleaning system are provided. In addition, the complex will include 375 wind turbines. The total design capacity of the power plant is 15 GW.

As of mid-August 2023, Adani Green Energy has approximately 8.3 GW of existing capacity, which is provided by renewable sources - the Sun and wind. It is estimated that by 2030 the company will bring its "green" energy resources to 45 GW. The Havda site will provide a third of that energy. Each year, Adani Green Energy plans to commission an additional 3 GW of capacity.[1]
