2024: School launch. Severstal allocated her ₽210 million

In October 2024, an advanced engineering school was opened in Cherepovets on the basis of Cherepovets State University (ChSU), designed to ensure the country's technological sovereignty. Severstal has become a key partner of the project, allocating ₽210 million for its implementation, of which ₽93 million have already arrived in 2024.

The new engineering school is part of a federal project aimed at training highly qualified next-generation engineers. In total, it is planned to create 50 such schools in Russia, and Cherepovets has become one of them.

On the ground floor of the university building, repairs were carried out, several classrooms were opened and a laboratory base was created. In the near future, the delivery of specialized equipment is expected. The central element of the school was the layout of the industrial center of competence (ICC), demonstrating the main elements of the full-cycle metallurgical plant.

Severstal CEO Alexander Shevelev stressed that the layout includes all stages of production: from mining to blast furnace and rolling production, as well as logistics. All elements of the layout are linked by capacity planning systems (CRP), for which Severstal develops software.

The format of instruction at the new school is practice-oriented. Students not only study production in Cherepovets, but also, thanks to federal support, will have the opportunity to learn from the experience of foreign colleagues in China. Among the teachers of the school are Severstal experts and professors from the capital's universities.

As of October 2024, six working groups have been formed that will develop new steel grades. In 2024, undergraduate students are trained, many of whom are already working in production. Freshman enrollment is scheduled to begin in 2025.[1]
