In 2013 the company transported 187.4 million people, having broken the record on number of the international passengers (129 million). The indicator of EBITDA equal to the volume of a profit before taxes, depreciation expenses and percent on the credits was succeeded to raise the companies twice. It grew from 883 million euros in 2011 to 1.61 billion in the 2013th. Besides, the enterprise cut down the current expenses. All this allowed Aena to get for the first time profit which amount was 597 million euros[1].
History
In June, 2014 it became known that the Government of Spain intends to privatize 49% of the capital of Aena Aeropuertos state company, report news agencies of the country with reference to statements of the minister of development Ana Pastor. 28% of shares will be placed on the exchange by carrying out the IPO, and the remained 21% on a competitive basis will be transferred to major shareholders.
Thus, in hands of the state there will be a controlling stake in the amount of 51%. For privatization implementation the government is going to publish new regulations of activity of the sector of the airports in July and to begin selection process of investors which will take place in September. After in October documents are registered in the National commission on the stock market (CNMV), in November, 2014 the company will set the maximum price for investors.
Annually the government will adopt new regulations (DORA) which will set service quality requirement and investments and also a tariff framework. The government calculates that similar changes will allow to control better costs and will increase the level of efficiency of the company, thereby having increased its competitiveness.
