2025: Kazakhstan's Halyk Bank buys Airba Fresh
The Airba Fresh express delivery platform, founded by entrepreneur Eduard Kim, has become part of the Halyk Bank ecosystem, integrating as a separate service into the bank's mobile application. This was reported in the press service of the credit institution on November 11, 2025.
They stressed that the use of the ready-made operating infrastructure of the delivery service will allow the bank, which has a significant customer base and developed payment solutions, to strengthen its presence in the growing e-grocery market. Halyk Bank notes that the key advantage of the deal was the debugged Airba Fresh operating system, which provides the platform with 1.5 million successful deliveries and 200 thousand unique customers in Almaty and Astana.
Key operating assets of Airba Fresh that attracted the bank:
- powerful warehouse infrastructure: large darkstores in two cities and an assortment of more than 10,000 unique product items (SKUs);
- flexible delivery formats: the service covers all formats - from classic pre-order to on-demand delivery in 60-90 minutes and express delivery in certain areas within 30 minutes;
- own production: the presence of dark cuisine with a growing range of ready-made food and pastries;
- quality control: the own distribution center ensures packing and strict control over the freshness of products and shelf life;
- Omnichannel: a network of 8 offline stores in Almaty, which by the end of the year will expand to 10 points that will also function as pick-up points for customers of the Halyk ecosystem.
Deputy Chairman of the Board of Halyk Bank Nariman Mukushev noted that the integration is due to the prospects of the online product delivery market, which, according to forecasts, can reach $1.5 billion. He also highlighted the competitive advantage of the service - express delivery in 60 minutes.
Bank customers will have access to the service through their ID in the Halyk application, with the ability to pay with bank cards and participation in a single loyalty program.
According to a Forbes Kazakhstan source, the deal to integrate the service into the bank's ecosystem is estimated at about $40 million. This step continues the bank's strategy to expand the ecosystem, following the announced purchase of a stake in the Uzbek payment service Click.[1]
