2025: Hacking the company's IT infrastructure

In mid-August 2025, it became known that cybercriminals hacked the American company Allianz Life Insurance Company of North America (Allianz Life), which specializes in life insurance. During the hacker invasion, the personal data of almost all customers was stolen.

Allianz Life is part of the Allianz SE group, the largest German insurance company that serves more than 128 million customers worldwide. It is known that the cyber incident occurred on July 16, 2025. Then the hackers gained access to a third-party customer relationship management (CRM) system, which Allianz Life uses in its activities.

Allianz Life services as of 2025 are used by approximately 1.4 million customers. Reportedly, the hackers had information about 1.1 million of them at their disposal. The company immediately after the discovery of the invasion took the necessary measures to protect its IT infrastructure and notified law enforcement agencies, as well as the FBI, about the cyber incident. It is emphasized that the attackers failed to gain access to the Allianz Life network or other systems of the company, including the insurance policy administration platform.

According to the Securityweek.com resource, behind the attack are the cybercriminal groups Scattered Spider and ShinyHunters, which work together (and, according to some reports, even united). The attackers conducted a large-scale campaign using social engineering. Stolen information can be used to organize various fraudulent schemes.[1]
