2022: Detention of the Head of Mission

At the end of November 2022, it became known about the detention of the head of the Belarusian representative office of the Swiss pharmaceutical company Alpen Pharma.

According to RIA Novosti, citing a statement by the Prosecutor General's Office of Belarus, the 31-year-old suspect for 2 years systematically provided on behalf of the Alpen Pharma AG representative office illegal monetary remuneration to medical workers of healthcare institutions in the region for promoting homeopathic and medicinal products produced.

According to the prosecutor's office, the activities of the company's representatives were associated with the transfer of illegal remuneration to medical workers throughout the country. A total of 12 representatives of this joint-stock company in the regions and Minsk were recognized by the Prosecutor General's Office of Belarus as suspects in a criminal case.

A criminal case against the arrested person was opened by the Grodno prosecutor's office. The name of the accused has not been disclosed. In relation to the leading specialist in regional development, the prosecutor of Grodno authorized the election of a preventive measure in the form of bail.

According to the Alpen Pharma website, the history of Alpen Pharma AG in Belarus began in 2009 with the opening of a representative office in Minsk. Regional divisions are located in economically important regions of the country - Brest, Vitebsk, Gomel, Grodno and Mogilev.

The representative office of the pharmaceutical company works with health institutions, national wholesale pharmaceutical companies, pharmacies and pharmacy chains, as well as with end consumers. The representative office develops and implements programs for launching new drugs on the Belarusian market and carries out measures for their subsequent promotion, indicated on the manufacturer's website.^[1]
