2023: Hacker attack that stole $31 million

On July 23, 2023, it became known about a hacker attack on the Alphapo cryptocurrency platform. Tens of millions of dollars in digital assets have been stolen in the incident.

Alphapo supports more than 30 digital currencies and serves as a payment gateway for several gaming platforms, including HypeDrop, Ignition and Bovada. According to the results of the preliminary investigation, the invasion is related to the leakage of private keys. According to some sources, cybercriminals stole assets totaling approximately $31 million. However, information also appeared on the Internet that the losses could actually reach $100 million.

After the incident, the HypeDrop platform temporarily stopped processing cryptotransactions. At the same time, the Mystery Box platform reported that it had problems entering and withdrawing funds as a result of the hack. Various difficulties are observed in other Alphapo customers. It is known that hackers hacked the Alphapo wallet on BTC, Tron and Ethereum. After that, the attackers converted the stolen funds into ETH.

"Please keep in mind that your HypeDrop funds are safe, but we have encountered a problem on the side of the cryptocurrency provider. After the resumption of the provider's work, deposit processing will be restored, "the platform said in a statement.

The investigation into the causes of the incident continues. An Alphapo spokesman noted that the company is working to eliminate the consequences of the invasion and is engaged in restoring service functionality. At the same time, Alphapo convincingly asks users to refrain from sending funds to old deposit addresses. It remains unclear whether Alphapo's other partners, such as Bovada and Ignition, have been affected. What group of cybercriminals may be behind the hack is not specified.^[1]
