2021: Acquisition by Tenable company

The American company Tenable, the developer of tools for search of vulnerabilities in corporate digital infrastructure, announced acquisition of the competitor, the French company Alsid, for 98 million dollars. Closing of the transaction is expected next quarter, reported on February 10, 2021 the Siliconangle edition.

Both Tenable, and Alsid develop systems of detection of vulnerabilities, however developments of Alsid are focused on problems in the Active Directory, directory services for operating systems of the Microsoft Windows Server family.

The Active Directory is used in corporate environments. In particular - for request processing of users to working applications, local and remote.

Besides, the Active Directory - one of the most favourite targets at cybermalefactors: having compromised her, they can get access to accounts which, in turn, have increased privileges in the critical systems.

The Alsid tools allow to detect weak points in local installations of the Active Directory before it is made by hackers. The platform defines the user accounts which are not used actively, but can be used for the attacks; unsafe passwords, errors in settings and other problems. Alsid also provides additional resources for detection of attempts of cracking.

Developments of Alsid at the same time do not require installation directly in the Active Directory for detection of vulnerabilities. It simplifies deployment and reduces risks.

Primary clients of Alsid are large corporations, and it is one more of the reasons for purchase from Tenable. Besides, Alsid proposes solutions and for local installations, and for cloud implementations of the Active Directory.

Active Directories - both in cloud, and in local options - are very popular with large corporations. The organization is larger, the structure of the Active Directory is more complex and, respectively, the it is more difficult to solve the arising problems without specialized technical tools. Developments of Alsid are just aimed at minimizing costs for this of activity. The interest of Tenable is clear here: the popularity of the Active Directory at least will remain at the previous level as the maximum will increase at the expense of the increased number of cloud implementations - owing to a pandemic and demand for a remote format of work.
