2018: AT&T purchased AppNexus for $1.6-2 billion
On June 25, 2018 the American telecommunication operator AT&T announced purchase of AppNexus for expansion of the strategy in TV advertizing. The transaction price officially is not set. According to the TechCrunch edition, is about the amount around 1.6-2 billion dollars.
According to the head of advertizing AT&T Brian Lesser, the company, having absorbed AppNexus, will be able to earn on these clients whose number by the end of June, 2018 exceeds 170 million people.
Besides, the transaction will advance AT&T in the markets of Asia, Australia, Europe and Latin America. Observers of TechCrunch assume that acquisition of AppNexus is directed to fight against Google, Facebook and Apple which practically monopolized the market of data.
AppNexus will provide the company one of the biggest exchanges for advertizing sale — the analyst of Barclays Amir Rozwadowski says. — So far at there are AT&T two minutes of advertizing space per one hour of TV broadcasting of satellite operator DirecTV. The family of cable channels Turner into which enter CNN, TNT and TBS will give them 14 more minutes of advertizing time per hour. |
In the middle of June, 2018 AT&T announced purchase of telecommunication corporation Time Warner (the owner of Turner) for $85 billion.
According to the head of AppNexus Brian O'Kelley, the transaction will integrate technologies of the company with content AT&T that will help brands and to sellers of advertizing to use new advertizing opportunities for consumers.
The AppNexus platform will be a part of division of advertizing and analytical AT&T technologies. It is going execute all formalities concerning the transaction in the third quarter 2018.[1]
