2023: Elevator fall with 14 people inside. Criminal case initiated

On October 10, 2023, an elevator fell in the hospital of the Archangel Michael and all heavenly forces. At that time, there were 14 people in it - 12 patients, an elevator operator and a nurse.

According to TASS, the Investigative Committee after this incident opened a criminal case under Article 238 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (provision of services that do not meet the requirements of the safety of life and health of consumers).

The fallen elevator was located in the building where the neurological and gastroenterology departments are located, as well as the intensive care unit. According to the testimony of the victims, the elevator fell immediately after the doors closed. As a result of the fall, the elevator filled with smoke and dust, and people were on the floor. Many passengers began a panic attack. Patients had to call emergency services as hospital staff were unable to open the elevator doors. At the same time, one of the victims noted that the victims themselves were able to open the door.

On the second floor, the elevator began to plummet down. We fell, the elevator immediately filled with smoke or dust, but the light was on, everyone was on the floor.

After the fall of the elevator, three people are in the trauma department. The rest of the passengers were not injured. The Ministry of Health noted that technically "the elevator did not break down, but dropped on the bumpers." According to the hospital administration, the elevator passed all checks and is certified for service.

According to the portal "59.ру," before the incident, the elevator tried to limit the number of passengers in the elevator, therefore, the main version of the reason for the fall of the elevator is its overload. In addition, the portal claims that in addition to the victims voiced by the Ministry of Health, one of the passengers broke her ribs, but did not get into the statistics, since her X-ray came later.^[1]
