2018: Connection to cameras of Canon for recognition of emotions in shops
In July, 2018 Canon provided a video surveillance system with function of monitoring of emotions of people. Such equipment is addressed to shops, shopping centers and entertaining organizations.
The announced camera will recognize three types of emotions on a human face: joy, grief and anger. Besides, it "understands" gender and age. Identification happens in a cloud service of VisualStage Type S, and the results characterizing mood of people at a given time are expressed as a percentage. So the computer reports, the person is how glad or angry.
Such data allow shops to control client audience and to understand when and how often visitors, for example, laugh. This technology is especially useful to small shops and supermarkets and also amusement parks and other places which owners want to gain a detailed view about customer satisfaction.
The camera of Canon is connected to the software of Aroba which analyzes looks of people and defines emotions. This software sends the images arriving from cameras of Canon to a cloud for data analysis without identification of the identity of the person. Access to service is paid within monthly payments. The cost of VisualStage Type S begins with $62 a month.
As notes the business publication Nikkei, in large public places, like shopping centers and entertainment complexes, network cameras of video surveillance are used even more often. At the same time the small enterprises often only write images from cameras and transfer the personnel to third-party services for reproduction and the analysis.
Thanks to a cloud of Canon can cover a wide range of clients. At the same time "smart" cameras of the company perform also traditional functions, warning, for example, about suspicious sounds and movements.[1]
