2017: Creation

In July, 2017 BASF announced creation in the group of the new company which will focus on development of technologies of three-dimensional printing.

The structure under the name of BASF 3D Printing Solutions for 100% will belong to BASF New Business company and will be based in the headquarters of group in the German Heidelberg — near InnovationLab research center which is the joint project of BASF, producer of the polygraphic equipment Heidelberger Druckmaschinen, the developer of the corporate software of SAP, Heidelberg University and Karlsruhe Institute of Technology.

The main specialization of BASF 3D Printing Solutions — creation and business development in the field of materials, system solutions, components and services in the field of 3D - printings. The new company will begin close cooperation with researchers and applied engineers of BASF and also with external partners, such as universities and potential clients.

It is expected that 3D Printing Solutions will receive the most part of orders of BASF from the companies to which it is necessary 3D - printing for industrial production. The enterprises in spheres of automotive industry, aero astronautics and consumer goods treat like those.

The industry industrial 3D - printings differs in high dynamics and still is at an early stage of development — the managing director of BASF 3D Printing Solutions Volker Hammes says. — It indicates the need of flexible cross-disciplinary commands for the small organization structures similar to startups capable to quickly make decisions. We consider the important success factor concentration of efforts in this area in one place, in hands of specialized enterprise.

At the first stage the staff of BASF 3D Printing Solutions will make 30 employees. Many of them already have works on technologies of volume printing in BASF.
