History
2024: Construction of a new terminal for 1.6 billion rubles
The construction of a new terminal worth ₽1,6 billion has been completed at the Baikal International Airport in Ulan-Ude. As of October 23, 2024, the facility is preparing for commissioning, scheduled for November.
According to TASS, according to the press service of the Deputy Prime Minister - Plenipotentiary of the President of Russia in DFOY Trutnev, the new terminal will increase the airport's capacity to 2 million passengers a year.
The project was implemented as part of the integrated development of the transport infrastructure of the Republic of Buryatia. The head of the region, Alexei Tsydenov, stressed that for the period from 2019 to 2023, the total investment in the republic's economy amounted to ₽486,2 billion, of which ₽388 billion were extrabudgetary funds.
The modernization of the airport is part of a large-scale development program for the region. At the Ulan-Ude Aviation Plant, the production of a new version of the Mi-171A2 helicopter is being introduced, and serial production of the Ka-226T and Mi-171A3 offshore helicopters is being organized.
The Kyakhta customs and logistics terminal has also been opened in the region, capable of servicing 200 heavy vehicles daily. The Ulan-Ude Instrument-Making Production Association has launched the production of electric motors and servos for unmanned aerial vehicles.
Investment projects cover various sectors of the economy. The Rost Group of Companies has begun construction of the largest greenhouse complex in the Far East with an area of 20 hectares in Gusinoozersk. In addition, the development of the Magical Baikal resort is underway with an extra-budgetary investment of ₽99 billion.
In the first half of 2024, the volume of investments in fixed assets of the region reached ₽46,5 billion. In 2023, investments amounted to ₽165 billion, which is 23% higher than in 2022.[1]
