Company

CJSC "Bank Companion" was founded in 2004 by consolidating five microcredit agencies. One of the largest banks in Kyrgyzstan

On January 11, 2016, the National Bank of the Kyrgyz Republic issued a full license to the Bank Companion, which allows all banking operations in national and foreign currencies.

The main shareholder and holder of 65% of the Bank's shares is Mercy Corps, 35% of the shares in equal shares (17.5% each) are owned by FMO (Dutch Development Bank, 51% of which are owned by the Dutch Government) and two investment funds managed by Triodos Investment Management (Luxembourg) (https://www.triodos.com/en/investment-management), the world leader in the field of social investment.

Co-operative Management is the other strength of the Companion and the Board of Directors consists of shareholders' representatives supplemented by independent directors, all of whom have significant experience in banking and microfinance.

In the infrastructure of Bank Companion CJSC, customers get the opportunity to make Golden Crown money transfers to 27 countries of near and far abroad at favorable tariffs - from 1% (depending on the amount and direction of the transaction). Transfers are instant, unaddressed, sent without opening an account. The sender can choose a currency convenient for receiving: rubles of the Russian Federation, US dollars or euros.

History

2022: Termination of service for Mir cards issued by 21 Russian banks subject to US sanctions

In October 2022, Companion stopped servicing cards of the Mir payment system, which were issued by 21 Russian banks that fell under US sanctions amid the conflict in Ukraine.
