2023: Use of heat from mining equipment to heat the pool
On June 21, 2023, the Bathhouse bath complex in New York Brooklyn announced the introduction of an unusual pool heating system. We are talking about the use of heat that is generated during the operation of mining equipment.
As representatives of Bathhouse said on the social network Instagram (owned by Meta, which is recognized as an extremist organization; activities on the territory of the Russian Federation are prohibited), the bath complex has a server farm used for the extraction of cryptocurrencies. It functions around the clock, emitting a significant amount of thermal energy. It is this "garbage" heat that is used to heat water.
The system uses special heat exchangers, as well as pumps that provide fluid circulation. Spa tanks absorb heat, after which the cooled water is sent back to the mining servers. Such a process is repeated constantly.

However, not everyone approved of this approach. Some users complain on social networks that bitcoin mining is inherently a waste of electricity, which creates an additional negative impact on the environment. Bathhouse, however, objects that if it were not for the power supply to the servers, then the electricity would go directly to heating the pools. At the same time, the difference would not be very noticeable.
We are essentially energy neutral because we supply mining server equipment with energy that otherwise had to be bought to heat the pools. In a certain sense, we can use this electricity twice, "said Bathhouse co-founder Jason Goodman[1] |
