Bayer HealthCare is the German company working in the field of development and production of medicines and goods for health care. Germany is based to Leverkusen.

Activities

For the beginning of 2016 the company integrates global activity of divisions:

• Pharmaceuticals (pharmaceutical prescription drugs). The division takes the leading positions in the field of pharmaceutics in Germany.
• Consumer Care (medicines of non-prescription dispensing). World famous Aspirin which the company produces not the first century, – one of the brightest brands of the company.
• Medical Care (treatment and express diagnosis of diabetes and also injection systems). Integrates the companies on production of monitoring systems of level of glucose in blood and devices for introduction of medicines of diagnostic imaging.
• Animal Health is maintenance of health of animals and treatment of their diseases, in the center of attention — treatment of infectious diseases and fight against parasites.

History

2018: Nativa won in lawsuit with Bayer

The arbitration court of the Moscow region made the decision to completely refuse to Bayer concern ("The buyer Helsker of an elelsa", the USA) the satisfaction of the claim to the Russian company "Nativa" for recognition and suppression of the actions violating the exclusive rights of the claimant. 1898: Invention of heroin

Opium contains 24 alkaloids, among them morphine prevails. For the first time pure morphine from extract of opium poppy in 1803 was selected by the German druggist Friedrich Wilhelm Adam Sertuerner. He called the connection selected with it morphine in honor of Morpheus. After opening morphine began to be used actively, however its chemical structure managed to be finalized only in 1925.

Long before the chemical structure of morphine was finalized, scientists made attempts to modify this molecule so that to receive more effective sedative which would not cause strong accustoming. In 1898 researchers of the German pharmaceutical company "Bayer" subjected acetylation reaction morphine.

However in this case reaction led to absolutely other effects. At first results seemed encouraging: diatsetilmorfin it was an effective analgetic when using in very low doses. Creators called it heroin (meaning that this "heroic" medicine). But it was one of those substances which causes the strongest accustoming.

As it turned out that the heroin produced by the company does not make sick and locks as morphine, its began to appoint for cough, asthma, migraine, even at tuberculosis.

However, as soon as side effect of this substance became obvious, the company ceased to advertize it. ^[1].

1894: Invention of aspirin

In 1894 researchers of Bayer company by reaction of acetylation from salicylic acid received aspirin.
