2024: Entry into the Russian base station market
At the end of May 2024, it became known that Beijing Tech was entering the Russian market of base stations for cellular communications. The Chinese company intends to supply its network equipment to telecommunications operators in the Russian Federation.
Beijing Tech specializes in the production of equipment for 5G and LTE FDD networks, which are widely used in Russia. Beijing Tech's product line features devices that support 1800 MHz and 2100 MHz, making them suitable for use in small towns, villages, suburbs and along roads.
A company representative in a conversation with Izvestia noted that Beijing Tech base stations have high throughput and power indicators of radio transmitters. The company is confident that their products will be able to occupy their niche in the Russian market, especially in the context of the departure of such giants as Nokia and Ericsson.
Rostelecom said they are studying proposals in the telecommunications market and are ready to consider Beijing Tech's participation in tenders for the purchase of equipment if it meets the company's high requirements. Tele2 also expressed interest in testing the equipment of Chinese suppliers, subject to its localization and compliance with the requirements of the Ministry of Industry and Trade.
MegaFon actively tests various types of network equipment of both domestic and foreign production. The company noted at the end of May 2024 that they are ready to consider offers from new players in the market.
Beijing Tech enters the Russian market amid a shortage of network equipment and the need to develop mobile infrastructure in Russia. According to experts interviewed by the publication, Russian companies are just beginning to develop and test their own network equipment, and several years will pass before mass implementation. At this time, Chinese companies such as Beijing Tech may occupy a certain niche in the market.[1]
