On October 12, 2023, Austin-based American startup Blackdot announced the opening of the world's first automated tattoo salon. The drawings on the skin are performed by a high-precision robotic installation.

The system looks like a chair in the office of a dentist or beautician. The Blackdot device uses a small number of "hidden test points" to analyze the customer's skin characteristics. The collected information is compared with a special database to optimize the settings - to determine the number of punctures and their depth. This is necessary to ensure the maximum quality of the tattoo when applied to the place chosen by the customer.

Each time a particular design is used, the author receives a fee for this. Blockchain-based technology is used to track orders.
