2016: An art school based on a boarding school for deaf children began work in Nizhny Novgorod

In Nizhny Novgorod, in the fall of 2016, an art school began work - a social and educational project based on a boarding school for deaf children, implemented with the participation of Cisco and RRC. Unlike traditional forms of optional learning, the school's educational model is based on a creative approach. The training takes place in a playful form and relies on scripts developed by professional teachers and directors. This allows art school students to do what they are really interested in, creates an atmosphere of mutual respect and trust, contributes to the formation of a close-knit community.

The art school operates a sewing and craft workshops, a pottery room, media studios, physical activity classes, as well as a game room. Here you can get acting skills, work on the potter's wheel, master the professions of sound engineer and lighting, learn to perform acrobatic tricks, apply makeup, take photos and much more. Everyone will be able to attend classes at the art school, regardless of age and social situation. Students of the boarding school, led by volunteers, will act as site curators and help guests master all the skills. Thus, the use of innovative methods in education will contribute to the disclosure of the potential and development of children with disabilities, as well as the integration of disabled people into society. The accumulated experience will serve to create an international methodological center on the basis of the school for teaching teachers to work with children with disabilities.

The School of Arts is a unique project for the region, forming the image of the Nizhny Novgorod region as an art center of international importance. It is equipped with the latest Cisco equipment necessary for conducting a modern educational process and organizing international creative festivals. As new technologies become available and as educational needs grow, the equipment of the art school will improve, which will allow the center's resources to be used as a constantly functioning demonstration platform. Technical support for the art school will be provided free of charge by Cisco regional partners.
