2022: Search for a buyer for assets in Russia begins
In October 2022, tire manufacturer Bridgestone announced the start of a search for a local buyer for its Russian assets. After the start of Russia's special operation in Ukraine, the company suspended all production activities in Russia in March, and also froze new investments.

It was founded in 1931 by Shojiro Ishibashi. The name of the company is Bridgestone (literally "Stone Bridge") - a direct translation of the surname Ishibashi.

- Bridgestone is the title sponsor of South America's two largest club football tournaments. Since 2011, the company has replaced Nissan as the title sponsor of the Copa Sudamericana, the continent's second most important tournament.
