Cyclotron (production of radiopharmaceuticals) and positron emission tomographs will operate on the basis of the center. The equipment will allow in the early stages to diagnose oncological and also cardiological diseases and assess the effectiveness of treatment.

Every year, 10 thousand people will be able to undergo an examination at the PEK/CT center, patients from Buryatia will be examined at the center free of charge under the compulsory medical insurance policy and a referral from an oncologist, said Kirill Arkhipov, executive director of the center.

It is noted that the creation of the center took into account the experience of Russian and foreign centers of nuclear medicine. The requirements of Russian legislation and the IAEA for nuclear facilities have been met.

The center is equipped with high-tech equipment: a charged particle accelerator - a cyclotron, a quality control laboratory and automatic modules for the synthesis of radiopharmaceutical drugs, two PET/CT scanners. The equipment will be used not only for the provision of diagnostic medical care, but also for the production of radiopharmaceutical drugs according to world standards.

Every year in this institution it is planned to carry out more than 5.5 thousand procedures for the diagnosis of oncological, neurological and cardiovascular diseases using computed tomography, a proton cyclotron and a positron emission tomograph, and the production of radiopharmaceuticals will be established.

For the operation of complexes with the content of radioactive substances, a nuclear installation and a radiation source will be built.

A nuclear medicine center was built in Buryatia for 1.38 billion rubles

Sinatom reports that they are one of the few construction companies in that Russia have received a license to Rostekhnadzor build a nuclear installation and a radiation source at facilities that include complexes that contain radioactive substances.

The project to create a center for nuclear medicine is being implemented under the terms of public-private partnership. About 1.38 billion rubles are invested in the construction of the center.
