2014: Hackers announced the destruction of the IT system of the CEC of Ukraine 2 days before the presidential election

A group of hackers calling themselves CyberBerkut announced on their website the complete destruction of the network and computer infrastructure of the Central Election Commission of Ukraine[1].

"We, Cyberberkut, in protest against the legitimization of the crimes of the Kiev junta, completely destroyed the network and computer infrastructure of the Central Election Commission of Ukraine. We assert with full responsibility that the Unified Information and Analytical System "Elections" created under full US control has ceased to exist, "the group said
.

As evidence, hackers published archives from the correspondence of members of the CEC of Ukraine obtained as a result of hacking the system, as well as technical documentation of the CEC system administrators and district election commissions.

In addition, a hacking report was published. "Cracked the CEC network in 0-day vulnerability in Cisco ASA," the document says. Cisco ASA is a hardware firewall. The document can also find a detailed description of the CEC IT infrastructure with many schemes.

"The entire structure and purpose of the network nodes is described in great detail in the TA, which was able to be pulled from the CIC sisadmins. Special thanks to the miracle admirers who store data on access to network nodes in text files on the desktop for an exciting quest, "the document says with the application of screenshots of the connection log.

The report contains other interesting information. In particular, the hackers said that "direct management of the will of the people of Ukraine" continues to be carried out by the American company SOESoftware, which left for itself full access to the key nodes of the CEC network.

A day earlier, on May 22, CyberBerkut hackers declared the upcoming presidential elections in Ukraine illegitimate. Elections are scheduled for May 25. "To conduct an election campaign at a time when journalists are languishing in dungeons, and fascists are beating presidential candidates - cynically. It is immoral to demand that voters choose when the junta burns and harasses those who disagree with its policies. It is criminal to hold elections in a country torn apart by a civil war, "the group's website said yesterday.
