Cloud Constellation is the American company which develops the project on creation of data centers in Earth orbit. By December, 2018 the startup intends to launch in space group of satellites under the name SpaceBelt which will allow to store data and to transfer them by satellite communication. It is supposed that such storage will be more protected from leaks and cracking in comparison with DPC on Earth.

History

2018: Attraction of $100 million investments

In December, 2018 Cloud Constellation announced attraction of $100 million investments which it is going to spend for creation of network of servers for storage and data processing in a terrestrial orbit. A round of financing the HCH Group company which is a part of the large Chinese producer of Haier Group home appliances headed. When Cloud Constellation according to the results of the investment transaction was estimated, it is not reported.

The Cloud Constellation company attracted $100 million to creation of data center in space

Initially Cloud Constellation was going to launch 16 satellites in space, but at the beginning of 2018 the company announced reduction of quantity up to 12. By December, 2018 the speech already goes about 8 satellites, 3 of which will fall on "satellites of memory". Each such satellite will be capable to store terabyte of data on 5 thousand.

How many will cost Cloud Constellation services, the representative of the company does not speak, but claims that Cloud Constellation already has several potential clients, are ready to entrust it data storage in space.

In 2017 the agreement on delivery of satellites with Virgin Orbit was signed, however later the transaction was terminated. Cloud Constellation explained that the company had to refuse services of Virgin Orbit because of the size of orbital DPCs.[1]
