2008: CBS Corporation purchased CNET Networks for $1.8 billion
On May 15, 2008 it was announced that CBS Corporation is going to purchase CNET Networks for $1.8 billion on June 30, 2008 purchase took place. From this point all property of CNET became a part of CBS Interactive. As result, the company became the owner of a set of domain names of the second level which were initially registered by CNET Networks, including: download.com, downloads.com, upload.com, news.com, search.com, tv.com, mp3.com, chat.com, computers.com, help.com, shopper.com, radio.com, and com.com.
2003: In top-20 Internet giant by the Internet audience size
2001: TechRepublic purchase
In April, 2001 CNET purchased TechRepublic Inc. for $23 million. This company was engaged in providing information for specialists in the field of IT (information was provided to Gartner, Inc.).

ZDNet acquisition
In October, 2000 CNET Networks purchased ZDNet approximately for $1.6 billion.
Purchase of mySimon
At the beginning of 2000 for 700 million dollars the mySimon online store with a possibility of comparison of goods was purchased.
Renaming into CNET Networks
In January, 2000 CNET was renamed into CNET Networks.
Creation of department of CNET Asia
In 1998 issued to Asiacontent company the rights for creation of department of CNET Asia which work began in December, 2000.
1997: Purchase of GDT
Being the property of CNET Networks, the website made several acquisitions for increase in the audience. CNET purchased the Swiss company GDT in 1997 which was renamed afterwards into CNET Channel.
1994: Basis of the website of CNET
The website of CNET was founded in 1994 by Helsi the Minor (Halsey Minor) and Shelby Bonnie.[1]
