One of the largest archives in the North Caucasus – more than 1 million units hr., 4744 funds and 9 collections.

GASK locates the richest istochnikovy base for studying of history of Stavropol Territory and the North Caucasus in the 18-20th centuries. Its documents reflect the history of settling and mastering of the territory of the North Caucasus since the beginning of the 18th century, versatily characterize social and economic, cultural and spiritual development of edge more than for the bicentennial period. Among especially valuable documents on the family of princes Bagrationov, about stay in the Caucasus and M.Yu. Lermontov's duel, A.S. Griboyedov Drive through the Caucasian area, about architects Giuseppe and Giovanni Bernardazzi, the surgeon N.I. Pirogov, the composer A.A. Alyabyev, the prelate Ignatius (Bryanchaninov), about construction and development of Caucasus Mineralnye Vody region, the biographic information about the president of the USSR M.S. Gorbachev, etc.

GASK stores the largest fund of the Caucasian (Stavropol) spiritual consistory (1843 - 1919) in the North Caucasus containing extensive information on temples and monasteries of the diocese, the history of sectarianism, missionary activity in the North Caucasus.

From personal funds a particular interest submit documents of the author of works on history of the Caucasian linear Cossack army, ethnography of edge I.D. Popko, the secretary of the Stavropol provincial statistical committee, the local historian I.V. Bentkovsky, the doctor of historical sciences V.A. Romanovsky, the Dr.Sci.Biol. A.I. Lopyrin, the Doctor of Philology, a lermontoved A.V. Popov, etc.

Collections of maps, plans and drawings land and the timberland of the Stavropol (Caucasian) province for 1768 - 1916, materials on land management of the province for 1799-1916 contain valuable information on the history of land use to Stavropol Territory.

Film documentary photographs contain about 50 thousand units of storage reflecting the most significant events in edge life since the end of the 19th century. Among them newsreels North Caucasus; collection of views of the Caucasus Mountains corresponding member of the Stavropol provincial statistical committee, researcher of the nature N.Ya. Dinnik and resorts of Caucasus Mineralnye Vody region photographer G.I. Rayev; rare panoramic pictures of the city of Stavropol; photos about stay to Stavropol Territory eminent political figures, scientists, writers, astronauts, etc.; phonorecords of memories of revolutionary events of 1905, agriculture collectivization, about participation of residents of Stavropol in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945.

In a scientific help library of GASK there are more than 19 thousand units hr., including 110 units hr. book monuments for 1721-1830: hand-written books of the end of the 18th century and old printing editions.
