The Kay computer Center - one of participants of the market of computer shops of St. Petersburg trading at retail in the wide range of the computer equipment and supplies. For today in network of retail sales of "KEY" 27 shops, and KEY supermarkets in V. Novgoroda, Voronezh, Cherepovets, Petrozavodsk, Belgorod, Lipetsk, Yaroslavl, N. Novgoroda, Kazan and Taganrog work. It wins first place in the rating of mentioning of computer firms and is one of the most intensively developing companies in St. Petersburg.
2019: DNS absorbs the oldest St. Petersburg seller of electronics
Part of shops of the oldest retailer of the equipment of St. Petersburg Kay will be closed by March, 2019, and the remained floor spaces will pass under control of large Russian retail network DNS with the headquarters in Vladivostok. Besides, Kay will assign DNS of the right of lease in shopping complexes and will lose the right to own brand. Transaction amount does not reveal. Fontanka with reference to an unnamed source[1] reported about it[2].
As the reason which induced owners Kay to transaction, experts who were polled by the edition called impossibility to compete with large federal players who are capable to achieve more advantageous conditions from suppliers due to the large volume of purchases. Other factor complicating business by small regional retailers is development of cross-border trade.
