2021: Acado sold Cosmos TV for 300 million rubles
At the end of December 2021, Acado left the business of Cosmos TV, which provides Internet access and cable television services in Belarus.
According to Kommersant, citing data from the SPARK-Interfax system, on December 16, 2021, the board of directors of the Moscow Telecommunications Corporation (OJSC Comcor, Akado Telecom brand) approved the sale of 100% of the shares of Cyprus International Telvell (CIS) Ltd to a certain Vadim Nikolaev for 300 million rubles.
Prior to this transaction, International Telvell owned 50% of Cosmos TV, the remaining 50 percent stake was owned by the property committee of Belarus. The beneficiary of Komkor Maxim Mayorets, in a conversation with the newspaper, noted that the deal is connected with "internal reorganization processes." At the same time, he refused to clarify who Vadim Nikolaev was.
Experts interviewed by the publication believe that the departure of the Russian provider from the Belarusian market may be a condition for potential investors: earlier, Rostec and ER-Telecom reported interest in acquiring the asset.
Cosmos TV works in Minsk, an attempt to enter the regions failed, says Maxim Polyakov, editor-in-chief of the Belarusian TV news portal. According to him, the provider has about 100 thousand subscribers.
Probably, the company was valued at a discount, taking into account the fact that Cosmos needs to modernize the networks, he told Kommersant. |
According to the expert, the deal "fits into the trend of IT companies leaving the Belarusian market." The publication notes that after the start of political protests, the number of requests from Belarusian IT developers to search for work in Russia increased five times.
According to TMT Consulting, by 2021 Acado has 317 thousand home Internet users and 790 thousand subscribers using pay TV service.[1]
