2024: Construction of a data center with an investment for $150 million

In early May 2024, the construction of a data center began in Tashkent. We are talking about a project that is being implemented by a company from Saudi Arabia DataVolt. Until 2030, it is going to invest about $150 million in this data center, as well as up to $5 billion in its other projects in Uzbekistan.

One of the largest DataVolt projects in Uzbekistan is the construction of a 250 MW data center in New Tashkent on a 25-hectare site. It is also planned to create a data center with a capacity of 40 MW in the Bukhara region with a further expansion to 250 MW.

Construction of a data center began in Tashkent

According to Ministry of Digital Development Uzbekistan reports, all future data centers companies will use renewable energy sources. The company will implement projects at the expense of its own funds and loans from international financial institutions, the department noted.

The capacity of data centers in Uzbekistan, the Saudi company plans to lease and provide services to the technological sector. After the launch of the projects, DataVolt expects to attract large foreign IT companies to Uzbekistan.

DataVolt CEO Rajit Nanda believes that "the project will have a positive impact on the economy and population of Uzbekistan and help make the country a digital leader in the region."

The Ministry of Digital Development of Uzbekistan notes that the construction of DataVolt data centers corresponds to the course of digitalization that the country chose. In accordance with this strategy, by 2030 Uzbekistan should enter the top 30 countries of the world in the UN e-government rating, and the export of IT services and software products by 2030 should reach $5 billion. dollars In addition, it is expected that the number of IT specialists by this time should reach 300 thousand people, the department said.[1]
