History

2022: EMEA Economic Organization

On January 11, 2022, Dematic, a supplier of technologies for automation of intralogistics, announced the creation of a corporate organization in the region of Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA). This is done to meet the ever-growing demand for internal logistics solutions . Bernard Biolkini has been appointed executive vice president. It is expected that the structure will allow Dematic to solve its tasks faster and respond more quickly to the needs of customers from EMEA countries, increasing the availability of its systems, software and services. It will also help speed up the creation of other technological solutions. The structure officially began its work on January 1, 2022.

The COVID-19 pandemic triggered an increase in demand for automation solutions. In 2020, Dematic's worldwide sales growth was 34%. A significant share of it is in the EMEA region. E-commerce and online food sales are still growing faster than the market expects.

Biolkini led a flexible modular organization consisting of various functional divisions in eight European Dematic markets. Half of the heads of functional departments came directly from the ranks of the company, to the second half of the positions invited candidates from outside: Andrea Campora, Senior Vice President for Commercial Affairs at EMEAAlberto Rostagno, Vice President, Customer Service, EMEA, Oliver Thomas, Senior legal EMEA Affairs Director, Nagy Bejjani, Vice President financial , EMEA, Dino Caprioni, EMEA Vice President of Personnel, and Markus Bacher (Senior Director of EMEA Solutions).

Also, the markets of Eastern Europe (including the Russian market), the Middle East and Africa will be headed by Reiner Schmid. Previously, he served as Senior Sales Director of Dematic in Central Europe.

2021: Entering the Russian market

In March 2021, Dematic announced its entry into the Russian market and the opening of an office in the settlement of Mosrentgen in the NovDonbass administrative district of Moscow. More details here.

The second half of the 20th century

1959 - Stöhr developed the world's first automated warehouse system, which in 1962 formed the basis of the Bertelsmann Book Club automated warehouse in the German town of Güterslo, and allowed processing 15 thousand orders per day.

1970 - Demag absorbed Stöhr and became a single provider of conveyor technology and related services called Mannesmann Demag.

1973 - Mannesmann Demag created the world's first automated high-rise warehouse.

1982 - Mannesmann Demag merged with Barret Electronics, which invented the first automated controlled machine (AGV) back in 1954.

1997 - Mannesmann Demag was transformed into Mannesmann Dematic AG.

First half of the 20th century

1910 - Harkort & Co. merged with several engineering companies under the new name Deutsche Maschinenbau-Aktiengesellschaft (Demag).

1922 - Another predecessor company - Stöhr Elevatorenfabrik - launched its first mobile conveyor, and soon developed the technology of a suspended conveyor.

19th century

1819 - The predecessor of Dematic - Harkort & Co., founded in Germany, produced one of the first steam cranes in the country.

1840 - Harkort & Co. began mass production of cranes for indoor use.
