The U.S. Department of the Interior (engl. United States Department of the Interior (DOI)) — one of executive departments of the USA founded on March 3, 1849 and the managing director of the most part of lands under federal jurisdiction. Unlike the Ministries of Internal Affairs in other countries basic function of the ministry — not police actions and the organization of security, and management of the earth.

History

2020: Turning of all fleet of drones because of threat to national security

At the end of January, 2020 the U.S. Department of the Interior suspended work of all park of unmanned aerial vehicles, except for emergencies, because of threat of national security.

The ministry reported that it intends to found own park of UAVs for "ensuring cyber security and use of the American technologies of the pilotless aviation systems" without involvement of the foreign companies.

The order orders to government officials to support UAVs of domestic production as information collected by UAVs of the foreign companies "potentially can be used by the foreign organizations and the governments". Government officials recognized that all operating UAVs of department were made in China or use parts of the Chinese production.

As it stands the fleet of UAVs will be used only in emergencies, such as fight against wildfires, holding rescue search and rescue operations and disaster management. In addition to emergencies, the Ministry of Internal Affairs used the UAVs for the different purposes earlier, including for a research of federal lands, collecting of research data and assistance to law enforcement agencies.

The Chinese producer drones DJI which delivered UAVs for the U.S. Government, noted that it "is extremely disappointed" with the made decision.[1]
