2019: Philips Healthcare purchased Direct Radiology
At the end of March, 2019 the Philips Healthcare company announced acquisition purchased the developer of the platform for Direct Radiology teleradiology. Its participants decided not to disclose the cost of the transaction.
As reported in the press release, under the terms of the signed agreement, More than 60 employees of Direct Radiology will work in Philips and to submit directly Sham Sokka, to the company executive in the field of radiological solutions. Nevertheless, according to representatives of Philips, the radiologists connected with Direct Radiology activity "will continue to work independently through special agreements".
As health care systems around the world fight against constantly growing costs and the shortage of suppliers of medical services, telemedicine becomes the key factor allowing to use optimum available resources. Royal Philips, in particular, stakes on a teleradiology – the system of services which will support the existing radiological departments and also will increase the speed and accuracy of their work at interpretation of images.
Philips intends to expand a service portfolio in the field of telemedicine, in particular remote radiological services. Cloud services of the company should form a basis for expansion. Royal Philips announced adding of new features, including opportunities of remote viewing medical images and drawing up reports, services of radiologists in a call and the corresponding applications for improvement of workflow of researches.[1]
