For December 6, 2017 the Elekta company works in the field of equipment manufacturing for radiation therapy, radio surgery, the related equipment and clinical treatment of violations of work of a brain and oncological diseases.
It is founded in 1972.
History
2019: The agreement with Rusatom Healthcarev on localization in Russia productions of linear particle accelerators
On November 8, 2019 Rosatom reported that JSC Rusatom Healthcare agreed about strengthening of cooperation with one of leaders in production of the medical accelerating equipment – Elekta Ltd company.
Cooperation assumes localization of production of high-energy linear particle accelerators of Elekta on the production site of one of the enterprises in a circuit of ROSATOM State Corporation and the organization of deliveries of the accelerators manufactured in Russia for needs of the Russian medical institutions and also for export. Partnership with Elekta company will allow JSC Rusatom Healthcare to increase competences of production of the medical equipment and to expand a line of own products.
In turn, for Elekta company cooperation with JSC Rusatom Healthcare will become an important factor for strengthening of positions in the Russian market. For November, 2019 the works on preparation of the production site for project implementation are completed, negotiations with the state and private potential customers of linear particle accelerators are held. In process of increase in production deepening of localization for the account order placement on production of components of the equipment at capacities of the enterprises of Rosatom and other Russian partners is supposed.
According to the CEO of JSC Rusatom Healthcare Alexander Shibanov, the agreement will allow to improve radically quality of life of the citizens of Russia needing modern medical care.
2018: Sales of business in the field of a magnetoencephalography
In July, 2018 Elekta announced sale of business in the field of a magnetoencephalography of York Instruments company — "subsidiary" of Croton Healthcare.
Elekta sells division of MEGIN which in 2017-2018 to financial year received revenue in the amount of 102 million Swedish kronur (about $11 million). How many York Instruments will pay for these assets, is not reported.
In the press release it is said that the transaction which 2018-2019 financial years want to close in the first quarter will not have significant effect on operational results of Elekta.
Magnetoencephalography (MEG) — the technique allowing to measure and visualize the magnetic fields arising owing to electric activity of a brain. This method is passive, i.e. registers activity of a brain and does not make any collateral impact on the patient's organism. During inspection the patient is not affected by external magnetic fields, to radiation, etc.
Elekta calls MEGIN company the leading supplier of technologies in the field of a magnetoencephalography and notes that by July, 2018 it unrolled more than 100 corresponding systems worldwide.
Elekta successfully developed MAG-business for the last decade, but recently made strategic decision that it is not a part of our core business on release of therapeutic solutions and information technologies in oncology any more. Therefore we aimed to separate MEGIN and are very glad that found in York Instruments the new house for it and its commands — the director after development of strategy of Elekta Maurits Wolleswinkel said. |
The head of York Instruments Gordon Baltzer considers that consolidation of the advanced technologies and experience of Elekta offered by the company opens the new future for a magnetoencephalography.[1]
