2023: Building a Company
On November 20, 2023, the British-Swedish pharmaceutical corporation AstraZeneca announced the formation of its first medical technology company. The new organization, called Evinova, will develop solutions based on artificial intelligence.
It is noted that digital transformation in the healthcare industry is taking place at a rapid pace. With strategic investments, AstraZeneca has made significant strides in this area. In particular, specialized digital solutions have been created to improve the quality of patient care and accelerate the development of new therapeutic drugs. The formation of Evinova is expected to strengthen its position in the digital healthcare segment, which, as of 2023, demonstrates growth rates of about 14% per year.
Evinova plans to prioritize bringing scalable digital technology solutions to market to optimize clinical research planning and execution. This will reduce the time and cost of developing new drugs, improve patient care at home and reduce the burden on traditional health systems. The company also intends to introduce digital remote patient monitoring and digital therapy capabilities. Evinova will provide solutions to pharmaceutical, biotechnology and clinical research organizations around the world.
The development of medicine can be accelerated with modern digital solutions. We believe that Evinova's combination of scientific expertise and advancements in developing AI-powered technologies provides a real opportunity to fundamentally improve patient care, stimulate the transformation of the healthcare industry and reduce carbon dioxide emissions into the atmosphere, says Pascal Soriot, CEO of AstraZeneca.[1] |
