2022: Building a Company to Service IT Systems for Ships
On July 13, 2022, it became known that the Russian team, Wartsila, who left the Russian Federation (a Finnish supplier of equipment and technologies for the power and shipbuilding market), created a company to service IT systems for ships. It was called the Evolution of Marine Digital Technologies (EMCT).
According to RBC, the co-owners of EMCT in the SPARK-Interfax system are the RBR-Factor company owned by Natalya Klimenko (90%), Vladimir Ponomarev (5%) and Andrei Sitkov (5%).
According to a RBC source, the Finnish company offered key Russian employees to move abroad, but they decided to stay and create their own company.
EMTC Development Director Vladimir Ponomarev told the publication that the company "is ready to take on the tasks of expert and technical support for current Wartsila users, as well as to develop and bring to the market domestic software and hardware solutions that can replace Wartsila products." He recalled that the latter "were actually created in St. Petersburg," and said that EMCT expects to ensure their "seamless replacement."
Ponomarev expressed the hope that in 3-4 years the company will be able to reach 40-50% of the turnover that Wartsila previously had on the Russian market. EMCT plans to develop abroad - "primarily in friendly countries," he said.[1]
