2025: Detention of three workers accused of selling data on 40 thousand companies and individual entrepreneurs for ₽150 thousand
FSB Russia The Novosibirsk Region Administration at the end of January 2025 announced the detention of two current and one former employee of the district tax inspectorate for the illegal sale of confidential data of more than 40 thousand legal entities and individual entrepreneurs for ₽150 thousand.
According to TASS, during 2023-2024, the former employee received from two existing employees of the tax inspectorate protected by tax secrecy information about the bank accounts of four organizations, as well as personal data of the founders and directors of companies.
The crime was solved by the joint efforts of operational officers of the FSB of Russia and the internal security service of the tax service. In relation to the suspects, a preventive measure was chosen in the form of a recognizance not to leave the place and proper behavior.
The Investigation Department of the RF IC opened criminal cases under articles on illegal receipt and disclosure of information constituting a tax secret. As part of the investigation, the seizure of the property of the defendants in the amount of ₽5 million was initiated.
In Novosibirsk, this is not the first case of violations by tax officers. In 2024, the head of the district inspection department was detained for receiving a bribe in the amount of ₽5 million, and in August the former employee became a defendant in the case of disclosing tax secrets.
In January 2025, the deputy head of the district inspectorate was also prosecuted for bribery. These cases demonstrate the systemic nature of violations in the regional divisions of the tax service.
The disclosure of this crime is the result of effective interaction between various law enforcement agencies and the internal security service of the tax authorities in the fight against corruption and leakage of confidential information.[1]
