2020: Launch of a business in the field of system integration of medical equipment
In January 2020, Fujifilm announced the start of system integration services in the medical device market. To do this, a separate division was created in the structure of the Japanese company, called Systems Integration. It worked as part of a group dealing with medical and endoscopic systems.
Employees of the new division will deal with projects for the integration of imaging and data processing systems in operating rooms and surgical rooms, as well as provide technical support to medical institutions.
In addition, Fujifilm Systems Integration will become a kind of link between the company's visualization systems and the products of the Synapse Enterprise Imaging family for storing, managing, viewing and analyzing medical images.
The company began to develop this business with the United States and did it by chance: as Fujifilm spokesman Devon Bream told HCB News, the American market for system integration of medical solutions is the largest in the world with an annual volume of $1 billion, while the global market is estimated at $1.8 billion.
The entire segment is extremely important because our systems integration unit will cover all other Fujifilm medical units, combining endoscopy, surgery, medical imaging and IT medicine, he stated. |
The system integration unit in the company will be headed by Keichi Nagata, President of Endoscopic Business at Fujifilm Medical Systems. Devon Brim is named global vice president and general manager of Systems Integration.
Fujifilm intends to launch a business related to system integration in Europe in 2021, and in the Asia-Pacific region - in 2022 or later.[1]
