2024: Russia becomes biggest overseas market for carmaker GAC
In 2024, the Chinese automaker GAC sold 20,105 cars on the Russian market, which is six and a half times higher than in 2023, making Russia the company's largest export market. TAdviser got acquainted with such data from the analytical agency Avtostat in mid-January 2025.
According to the agency, this result allowed the brand to take fifteenth place in the ranking of automobile brands in Russia. In December 2024, the company entered the top 10 popular brands for the first time, selling 2,283 cars and showing a maximum growth of 3.1 times among market leaders. The brand's success in the Russian market reflects the general growth trend in the share of Chinese automakers in Russia.
The most popular GAC model in Russia was the GS8 crossover, which accounted for two-thirds of all sales - 13,403 units. The second place was taken by the crossover GS3 with a result of 4963 cars, in third place is the M8 minivan with an indicator of 1309 units.

2022: Transfer of Stellantis stake in GAC-Stellantis
On January 27, 2022, Stellantis N.V. announced plans to increase its stake in the GAC-Stellantis joint venture from 50% to 75%. The move is a key element of Stellantis' plan to create a new base for doing business in China.
