History

2024: Launch of Spacecraft Manufacturing Plant

At the end of June 2024, Gazprom SPKA announced the launch of a modern spacecraft production plant. It is expected that by 2025 the company will produce up to two satellites per week, which will be a significant contribution to the development of the Russian space industry.

First Deputy General Director of Gazprom SPKA Sergey Masalov noted that the first satellites will be created in the framework of cooperation with private companies. In August 2024, it is planned to put two demonstration small satellites on the slipway and begin testing them. The plant will operate at full capacity in two weeks.

Gazprom SPKA announced the launch of a modern plant for the production of spacecraft

Masalov stressed that starting from 2025, the company expects to produce up to a hundred small spacecraft per year. This ambitious goal will significantly increase the availability of space technology for public and private customers. Gazprom SPKA is actively cooperating with private companies, which also plan to enter the production of two satellites a week, the company noted.

The project to create an assembly production of spacecraft is being implemented with the support of the state corporation Roscosmos. The plant, located in Shchelkovo, Moscow Region, will be the first full-cycle enterprise in the history of modern Russia to assemble and test spacecraft. Production capacity will allow the production of up to four large or up to 100 small satellites per year.

The plant will install modern equipment with a high level of automation of technological processes. All products will undergo multi-stage testing, including tests on unique stands that simulate space conditions and launch loads on launch vehicles. [1]

2019: Roscosmos "intention to enter the authorized capital of Gazprom SPKA

On November 27, 2019, it became known that Gazprom Space Systems JSC and the state corporation Roscosmos signed an agreement on the basic principles of participation in the project to create an assembly production of spacecraft (SPKA). The document reflects the intention of Roscosmos to enter the authorized capital of Gazprom SPKA.

The shares of participants are supposed to be fixed in a special corporate agreement, which will be concluded later.

Igor Kot, Deputy General Director for Business Development of Gazprom Space Systems JSC (Group of company Systematica), said that the design of the center was completed in the summer:

Financing is organized, there were no obstacles to construction, and on November 25, the construction stage started.

The press service of Gazprom reported that the first full-cycle enterprise in the history of modern Russia to assemble and test satellites will be located next to the Telecommunications Center of Gazprom Space Systems JSC.

Here, on the basis of advanced technologies, civil spacecraft will be produced for the needs of the Gazprom group and other customers, including the state corporation Roscosmos. We are talking, in particular, about the development of the orbital constellation of communication satellites "Yamal" and satellites of remote sensing of the Earth "SMOTR." These space systems provide technological communication and monitoring of the company's production facilities. The enterprise's capacities are also planned to be used in the implementation of the promising Sphere program to create a multi-satellite orbital grouping of data transmission based on the principles of public-private partnership. Modern equipment with a high level of automation of technological processes will be installed at the assembly sites of the SPKA. All manufactured products will undergo a multi-stage test: the test benches will simulate the impact of space factors and loads arising from the launch of vehicles on launch vehicles. The capacity of the enterprise will make it possible to produce up to four communication and remote sensing devices of the Earth of medium and large dimensions or up to 100 small serial devices per year. It is planned to put the enterprise into operation in 2022. The project operator is Gazprom SPKA. Until 2035, Gazprom plans to launch 14 of its own satellites into orbit, the press service of Gazprom said.

SPKA will be located in the town of Shchelkovo near Moscow, in the Zhegalovo quarter, on a land plot located in close proximity to the Group of company Systematica Telecommunications Center. The land area allocated for construction is 87,121 sq.m. The building area will be 6450 sq.m. The site is under Group of company Systematica lease for a period of 49 years. As noted in the annual report of the Group of company Systematica for 2014, work on the creation of the SPKA was supposed to begin in 2015.

2015: Gazprom SPKA Institution

In August 2015, LLC Gazprom investment project"" GROUP OF COMPANY SYSTEMATICA and established Gazprom SPKA LLC. This company was created to implement the constructions project of assembly production of spacecraft. Then the press service of the Group of company Systematica reported that the construction of assembly production should be completed in 2018[2]
