History

2023: The number of "hares" in the cabin began to be shown in the trolleybuses of St. Petersburg

Petersburg trolleybuses were equipped with equipment showing the number of stowaways in the cabin. The information is displayed on the display in the driver's cab and screens installed in the cabin, Gorelektrotrans said at the end of September 2023.

The electronic control system shows how many passengers are traveling in a trolleybus and how many of them have not paid for travel. Data is transmitted to the dispatching consoles of the carrier, integrated into the intelligent transport system of the city.

Thus, controllers always know which route, which trolleybus or tram they need to pay attention to. And passengers always see this information in real time on monitors in transport, - explained in Gorelektrotrans.

The company added that its rolling stock has advanced technologies in terms of fare payment services, and the electronic fare payment control system (SEKOP) installed on trams and trolleybuses has a wide range of functions - they meet the Smart City concept.

By the end of September 2023, the system for calculating the number of free riders is already working in the trolleybuses of the Avangard, Premier and Olgerd models. In addition, special equipment for calculating "hares" is installed on the Dostoevsky and Dovlatov retro frames.

According to the publication "Business Petersburg, in the first half of 2023, controllers checked tickets for about 20 million passengers of public transport in St. Petersburg. 7.7% of people turned out to be stowaways, the violators were fined 500 rubles. In August 2023, the Transport Committee cited as an example a raid on hares carried out on routes in the Nevsky district. The inspectors managed to identify only one violator out of 100 passengers.[1]
