Hanwha Techwin (formerly Samsung Techwin), as of August 2018, produces products under the Wisenet Samsung brand, is a manufacturer of security equipment. The company develops technologies that are in demand for video control systems at facilities in the private sector, transport, production, engineering, commerce, education and medicine.

Hanwha Techwin is part of the South Korean industrial conglomerate Hanwha Group, formed in 1952. History

2015: Completion of the Hanwha Group deal and name change to Hanwha Techwin

On July 15, 2015, it became known that the name of Samsung Techwin had changed after the completion of the transaction for its purchase by Hanwha Group Corporation. The new name is Hanwha Techwin ("Hanwa Tekwin").

However, Samsung Techwin's foreign divisions retain their former names, and the name change affects only South Korea itself. That means Samsung Techwin America in America, Samsung Techwin Europe in Europe and Shanghai Samsung Techwin in China will still be named.

Samsung Techwin Co., Ltd., which became Hanwha Techwin Co., Ltd., co-owns the Samsung brand with several affiliated companies. Thus, Hanwha Techwin, not being the owner of the Samsung brand as a whole, will be able to use it when selling video surveillance systems in different countries.

In South Korea itself, employees of the sold units protested against the deal (in addition to Techwin, these are three more companies - defense and two chemical). People feared for their jobs, as the new owner would reorganize.[2]

2011: Samsung Techwin Delivers Security Solutions

As of December 2011, Samsung Techwin, founded in 1977, was part of Samsung Corporation and was one of the suppliers of high-tech equipment for video surveillance systems, the aviation and defense industries.
