Borjomi is a mineral water of volcanic origin, which by natural standards has been more than 1,500 years old. It gets to the surface of the earth from a depth of 8-10 km, pushed out by natural carbon dioxide. Unlike many other hydrocarbonate sodium mineral waters, Borjomi does not have time to cool underground and comes to the surface warm (38-41 ° C), "along the way" enriched with a composition of 60 different minerals located in the rocks of the Caucasus Mountains.

The results of studies of Borjom water indicate that deep mineralized, modern fresh and low-mineralized waters are involved in its formation. But how are they born in the bowels of the earth? To answer this question, recall several theories about the origin of groundwater.

One of the first theories - infiltration - was put forward by the Roman architect Mark Vitruvius Pollio in ancient times, but scientists rely on it to this day. According to this theory, groundwater comes from atmospheric precipitation penetrating the earth through rock channels.

At the end of the 19th century, the world became interested in the condensation theory of the German engineer O. Volger, who believed that groundwater was formed due to the thickening of atmospheric water vapors in the soil.

Finally, one of the last theories - juvenile - was put forward in 1902 by the Vienna geologist E. Suess. The scientist gave a number of evidence about the connection of some mineral waters with the magma of the Earth. In his opinion, products released from molten magma fall into areas with lower temperatures and condense, forming juvenile (i.e. pristine) waters that appear as sources on the earth's surface. However, not in its pure form: climbing rock cracks, often under the influence of gases of volcanic origin, juvenile water dissolves these rocks, is saturated with minerals and mixes with groundwater of a different (often infiltration) origin.

In the early 1990s. in the course of one of the studies it was discovered that Borjomi in the ratio of some isotopes of hydrogen was radically different from other studied mineral waters. It is possible that these data confirm a significant share of the very juvenile, "pristine" component in this mineral water. Perhaps the uniqueness of Borjomi, its positive effect on the body, which is not always amenable to medical analysis, and, ultimately, the popularity of this water refers precisely to the secrets of its origin.
